Film and TV Projects

Here are descriptions of the film and TV projects we are currently handling.  We can send you a synopsis, proposal, or completed script for further consideration.  Then, we will refer you to the agent who is handling follow-up for that  project.

TV REALITY/GAME SHOWS AND DOCUMENTARIES

DO YOU LOOK LIKE YOUR DOG
Based on the Web site at
www.doyoulooklikeyourdog.com and book published by Random House and under consideration by publishers in the US, Europe, and the UK for a follow-up book.  It’s a subject with appeal to 100 million plus dog owners and enthusiasts in the U.S. and even more worldwide. The Web site features photos of about 1000 people who look like their dog from all over the world, 100 of them featured in the Random House book.   Besides owners from the U.S., Canada, there are submissions from the U.K., New Zealand, Italy, Israel, and other countries.  The project was under option with a small producer for about 15 months and has just been released from option.  A trademark for the "Do You Look Like" mark is on file. Our proposal, for a few approaches for a TV game/reality show and documentary, features some of these elements:
   * Owners and their dogs participating in some activities together
   * A competition where owners and their dogs are judged by a panel of judges and the studio audience on their participation in activities and how much they look alike
   * An interview with the owners about their experiences with their dogs (this
could feature some cut-aways to show them in these activities at home)
   * Clips of owners participating in dog shows with their dogs.
The author of this book would make great online talent, too, such as being one of the celebrity judges or hosting a series, since she has been on numerous shows, including Good Morning America,Oprah, and CNN.

BAD BOSSES

Based on the book: The Survival Guide to Working with Bad Bosses, which has received international publicity, Bad Bosses features former employees (sometimes disguised) telling their stories. As they do, short reenactments by actors show what happened. Then a panel of judges, including the author, an expert on business relationships, and two other experts on the workplace or well-known company heads, give advice on what the person should do – or should have done. There will be prizes for the worst boss story on each show as well as a grand prize for the absolutely worst boss during the season’s finale. Audience members and viewers are invited to share their stories and vote on the winners, too. A Web site will be set up at www.badbosses.net, which is being designed now to promote the book.

WORK IT RIGHT!

Inspired by a series of advice books on improving relationships at work, including A Survival Guide to Working with Humans and Dealing with Bad Bosses, Work It Right! is a show on which people describe their workplace problem, followed by a segment with clips from their real workplace or a simulation of this situation. Next, short clips show different ways the person might resolve the problem.  Then a panel of judges, including the author, an expert on business relationships and two other experts on the workplace or well-known company heads, give advice on what that person should do. The Web site is at www.workingwithhumans.com.

WHAT KIND OF DOG ARE YOU?

Based on the forthcoming book What Kind of Dog Are You?, in which people gain insights about themselves and others from their favorite and least favorite breed of dogs, the show features a variety of game activities, such as:

·       - Participants secretly choose their favorite and least favorite dogs.  Then, after they respond to a series of questions, they guess what types of dogs the other participants are most likely to choose and why, and they get scores on how well they do.

·       - Participants participate in role plays where they imagine themselves acting like different types of dogs, and the judges, who include celebrity judges, book author, and viewers, rate their role plays.

The Web site is at www.whatkindofdogareyou.com.

THE LYING GAME

Inspired by the book The Truth about Lying, The Lying Game features people competing in a series of games in which they tell lies, try to detect lies, and participate in activities based on a mix of truth and lies. People also describe situations in which they have lied – or might even make up these stories, and the judges and audience members have to vote on the participants who have told the best lie, worst lie, or funniest lie.  The show also lends itself to a series of boxed games which players can play at home with their family and friends.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Based on the popular book Making Ethical Choices, Resolving Ethical Dilemmas published by Paragon, What Should I Do? is a show in which participants describe an ethical dilemma they have faced or learn about a dilemma developed by the show producers or submitted by viewers. The dilemma can be dramatized or shown in a video clip featuring the real people facing the problem. The participants are given a series of choices about what they or the person facing this dilemma should do – or can create their own choice.  Then, after the contestants explain their reasons for making a particular choice, a panel of judges, including the author of this book, an expert on relationships and two other experts in the field or celebrities, decide who has given the best advice and why, and that person wins a prize.  The winner goes on to compete in the next show.

HOMICIDE BY THE RICH AND FAMOUS

Based on the book of the same name published by Greenwood and coming out in paperback from Berkley Books in Septmeber 2006, Homicide by the Rich and Famous features cases with rich killers from the 19th century to the present.  Each show features dramatizations of one or two stories, highlighting different themes that characterize homicides among the rich and famous – such as the use of an elaborate cover-up to hide the crime, hiring a killer, or getting a great legal team to defend the case.  It draws on the research for these cases described in Homicide by the Rich and Famous and additional cases researched for the show.  The Web site for the book is at www.richandfamoushomicide.com
